Paying for your Pilates session with a HSA or FSA Card
HSA Payments
If your Medical provider has recommended Pilates lessons for your specific health concern, and is willing to provide you with a letter of Medical Necessity ( a prescription for Pilates ) stating Pilates is a treatment for your specific condition then you may be able to use your HSA card (and pre-tax HSA funds) to pay for your Pilates sessions during checkout. Once your Provider gives you this letter keep it and all detailed receipts of each visit for your records; Most Insurance companies will require this letter of Medical Necessity to be signed by your Doctor. *Please check with your HSA /Insurance provider for more information or to confirm your eligibility prior to paying with your HSA card as the rules vary depending on the insurance provider, state, and coverage. FSA Payments
The IRS permits your FSA funds to be used to cover separate costs incurred at physical therapy facilities or for particular activities (i.e., Pilates lessons) that a patient’s doctor has recommended. The Provider is required to make a declaration ( state in writing via letter of Medical Necessity or written prescription) that Pilates is a treatment that is required to treat your illness or condition, whether it be physical or mental. *Make sure your healthcare provider and FSA administrator approve Pilates as a treatment for your medical condition prior to paying for sessions. Please save all your receipts and other supporting documentation related to your HC FSA expenses and claims as the rules vary depending on the insurance provider, state, and coverage.
